What is Lovable and how can I use it for your business?

Updated: Mar 1

Lovable is an AI-powered tool that lets you build complete web apps, tools and sales pages without any coding knowledge.

I use it daily for clients to build custom digital products that would normally cost thousands in development fees. In this blog I explain what it is, what you can build with it, what it costs and how I can put it to work for you.

What is Lovable?

Lovable is an AI app builder where you describe what you want to build in plain language, and the tool turns that into a working application. You type something like: "Build a tool where my students can put together their own personalised programme", and Lovable builds it for you.

What makes it special: you don't need a technical background.

Lovable generates the complete frontend, backend and database in one go. The platform grew rapidly in 2025, closed a $330 million investment at the end of 2025 and is now used by major companies like Klarna and Uber.

But the interesting part for you as an entrepreneur? You don't need to be a big company to benefit from it.

What can you build with Lovable?

Short answer: more than you'd expect.

I use Lovable for a wide range of projects. Here's a snapshot of what I've built in it myself:

  • An interactive programme builder for an online course, so students can design their own learning path.

  • A complete matching platform connecting entrepreneurs with virtual assistants.

  • A lead generation system that automatically identifies and follows up with prospects.

  • A task management tool for entrepreneurs who want to take the pressure off their team.

  • And sales pages that go beyond a standard website, with dynamic elements and smart integrations.

What I see in practice: Lovable works best for web apps, tools and platforms. Think client portals, interactive calculators, membership environments, simple SaaS products and smart sales pages with added functionality. The platform is ideal for complex web applications with custom logic, something most other no-code tools simply can't handle.

Why do I use Lovable for clients?

I've been working with tools like Kajabi, Elementor, Wix and Webinargeek for years. They're great at what they do. But sometimes a client wants something that falls just outside those boundaries. An extra tool within a course. Something that fits their process exactly. A page that does more than just inform.

In the past that meant: hiring a developer, waiting weeks and setting aside a serious budget.

With Lovable I solve that in a fraction of the time. I've noticed that it makes an enormous difference for clients when that extra tool just exists, without it becoming a big project. It lowers the bar to build something, which ultimately means entrepreneurs can test more, scale faster and serve their clients better.

What I also see: Lovable fits perfectly into a broader automation strategy. A tool built in Lovable can be connected via Make or Zapier to your CRM, email system or checkout. Everything works together.

What makes Lovable different from a regular website builder?

This is a question I get often. The difference is in what you can actually build.

A website builder like Elementor or Wix is great for a beautiful website with fixed pages. Lovable goes a step further: you can build applications that actually do something. Users can log in. Data gets stored. Forms trigger actions. Different users see different content.

Lovable generates complete full-stack applications, including the technical layer that would normally require a developer. That's fundamentally different from a drag-and-drop website.

Another big advantage: you own the code. If you ever want to develop further with a developer, you simply export the code and continue from where Lovable left off.

Is Lovable free?

Yes, Lovable has a free plan. It gives you 5 credits per day, which amounts to a maximum of 30 credits per month. You can build public projects and get a proper feel for the tool without needing to enter any payment details.

For serious use, the free plan is too limited. You'll burn through your daily credits quickly when building anything with a bit of complexity. The free plan is ideal for testing whether Lovable is right for you, but not for production-ready projects.

How much does Lovable cost?

Lovable works with a credit system combined with a subscription. Paid plans start from $21 per month with annual billing, or $25 per month on a monthly basis. That gives you 100 credits per month plus 5 extra daily credits.

What you get for that: private projects, your own domain name, the option to remove the Lovable branding and credits that roll over to the next month if you don't use them all.

What I notice in practice: for simple tools and pages the starter plan is more than enough. Once you're iterating frequently or building something more complex, you'll use credits faster. That's worth keeping in mind. For projects I build for clients I always discuss expected costs upfront so there are no surprises.

Is Lovable safe?

This is a question I take seriously, because it factors into how I deploy Lovable for clients.

Lovable itself has a comprehensive security programme. The platform is ISO 27001 certified, complies with GDPR and runs automatic security scans before you publish an app. Your code and project data belong to you, not to Lovable.

At the same time, there's something important to know. In 2025 a vulnerability was discovered where apps with incorrectly configured database access rules were susceptible to unauthorised access. Lovable responded quickly with improved security controls, but it shows that as a builder you need to be conscious of how you set up an app.

My approach: I use Lovable for marketing tools, interactive aids and platforms where the risks are manageable. For apps where sensitive client data is central I always take extra steps in the configuration, or I recommend a different approach. Being honest about these kinds of nuances matters more to me than blindly promoting a tool.

Is Lovable right for my business?

That depends on what you need. I bring in Lovable when a client wants something that goes beyond a standard website or funnel.

A few situations where I immediately think of Lovable:

  • You run courses and want an interactive tool or portal for your students.

  • You offer services and want a calculator or intake tool where clients can map out their own situation.

  • You have a community or platform and want to build your own environment without the limitations of existing platforms.

  • You want a specific page or tool that fits your offer exactly, not someone else's template.

Lovable is less suited for very simple informational websites. For those, a tool like Tilda or WordPress is faster and more cost-effective. But the moment you want to build something that truly functions, Lovable is strong.

How does it work if I ask you to build something in Lovable?

I always start with a good conversation about what you need and why. Not every situation calls for a new tool. Sometimes a smart adjustment to an existing system is already enough.

If Lovable is the right choice, we build it step by step. I write out the specifications, build the first version, we test it together and adjust where needed. After that I connect it to your existing systems so everything works seamlessly.

What I bring from my broader expertise: I always look at the bigger picture. A tool in Lovable is valuable, but only truly powerful when it's integrated into your marketing systems, email flows and client experience.
